The
trail to Amethyst Lake is about 6 miles long; it feels like 12.
Views along the trail are not very spectacular until You're almost
there. Amethyst Basin is enclosed by Lamotte and Ostler Peaks
and opens to the west. This makes it a better sunset than sunrise
location.
